AGE: 21
APPEARANCE: here ( and also here, post 'let it go' )

PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: --

PERSONALITY:

Elsa, at first glance, comes off as a composed, elegant, paper perfect cutout of royalty. While seemingly calm, greeting others with a serene bow of the head, a soft smile and nothing more, the young woman walks with a certain noble poise and queenly grace, taking on the role as a Queen to start and trying her best to fit in those shoes without any doubting eyes questioning her fitness.

She tries really, really hard.

The "paper cut-out" of royalty mentioned above is just what she is— she's not Elsa, here, but a mere mold of what she thinks she needs to be and should be, not what she wants to be. This composure stems back to Elsa's childhood, where she accidentally came close to nearly killing her sister, Anna. Since then, after being shown a warning yet terrible vision by the Trolls who cured her sister, along with encouragement from her parents, Elsa grew in fear of her abilities, causing the King and Queen to close the gates to the kingdom, reduce staff, shut the castle, and as for Elsa, separating her from Anna, and locking herself away for thirteen years of her life, avoiding contact with all and hiding her powers in fear of them spiraling out of control once more.

Because of this, Elsa is extremely restrained and even self-hating, guilty of what she's done and what she could do. Her fear caused her not only to suppress herself until the age of twenty-one, but also suppress and reject her powers to a point that she became so apprehensive and desperate to hold her gift from developing, that her very control over it begins to slip from her. Elsa is evidently pressured, feeling that she must take her parents' place thrown-wise one day, and be who they tried desperately to make her out to be— while also feeling forced. But, for her family's sake, and for the kingdom, Elsa attempts and goes through with her coronation ( until that went downhill ), despite her heart and own happiness.

Although she may come off as cold, blunt, and distancing at times, preferring isolation rather than company for other's sake, Elsa is a rather selfless, protective, and very emotional person, caring deeply for others and their well-being, and trying desperately to keep them away from the danger she sees in herself by wearing a stone mask— her powers are directly connected to her emotions, thus she hides them to the best of her ability, but it's not as easy as she tries to make it out to be. Her powers, unfortunately or fortunately, are an open book to tell how she feels. When Anna announces her sudden engagement to Hans, Elsa is quick to clip her sister's wings out of concern and care for her sibling— because marrying a guy you just met is certainly not a good sign; Elsa merely wanted what was best for Anna, and when given no choice to speak to Anna alone, she's quite okay with hashing things out bluntly to both.

She likes people, she adores her sister, as mentioned above and further up— in actuality, she doesn't like being alone, and has mentioned that she's enjoyed the open gates throughout the movie ( the first dissolving into a saddened 'but it can't', during her coronation, realizing that they can't be open because of her ). There is a moment when Elsa is standing with Anna during the party, and she seems to look on with genuine contentment at the crowd, enjoying different air for once, and enjoying her people. Along with her sister, is her love for the kingdom, and it's here that we see that, despite her fear, she takes her role seriously and, with fear aside, she'd probably be able to take that care to full capacity. ( if she could be herself and queen, things would be splendid-! )

The thought of being the one responsible for hurting anyone is a bit overwhelming, and on top of that, the very idea of the kingdom rejecting and turning against her if her magic is made known, where she would rather live in solitude than run the risk for everyone. When it comes to people, Elsa is fairly insecure, most of that being her fear of somehow causing pain or misery to them. She avoids physical contact at all costs, afraid of touching people and somehow freezing them, such as when she carefully declines a dance with the Duke of Wesleton, or when Anna reaches to touch her, where she recoils, despite wearing her gloves. We're shown that even then, even with certain protection and a "mental block", Elsa still has a huge problem with touching people in any way.

Appearances are also a worry on top of that— she needs to be perfect, reserved, and suitable for the eyes that dawn upon her, and along with that comes the strain of trying to do so ( her usual dress during the coronation shows no skin at all, only her face, and just looking at it gives you the feeling of heaviness— compared to her sassy, snazzy ice dress and heels post let it go ). She's also shown to get a bit nervous when unexpecting of something, or when things begin to flee from her control, thus, somehow, finding a chance to 'run away', by cutting off the topic at hand with near-cold queenship.

Elsa is the type of person that requires feeling of handle and direct administration; if she has control over a situation, she'll consequently and most importantly, have control of herself. If not, as mentioned above, she begins growing flustered, nervous, off balance and insecure, and before the situation can take a wrong turn, she lets go and turns away as a last minute attempt to let things cool and regain the reigns, similar to having the last say in an argument ( which is what she's done when Anna retorts to Elsa's rejection with "all you do is shut people out". She, despite visibly faltering, repeats her no with disappointment but less falter, cuts Hans off with a subtle stumble in her words and simply tells him to leave as she turns away and orders for the gates to be closed ).

If not made obvious or taken note of yet, given the 'flight-or-fight' response, Elsa's first move is flight. She flees from confrontations and runs from her problems, figuring it's the best way to solve things— by leaving them alone and keeping them away from her, although this more times than less, backfires on her. When confronted by Anna, instead of trying to talk things through, she walks away, urging Anna to stop making a ruckus at the party and attracting unwanted attention to them. Just moment ahead of her canon-point, when her powers are made known to her party-goers, again, instead of fixing things with words and dialogue, Elsa flees. She cuts people off. She shuts people out, and it's the only thing she knows how to do, and it all, again, stems from fear.

Under her fearful blockade, Elsa's still a young woman more than anything, and strings of herself show through when comfortable; she's warm, ice aside, at times even playful, teasing, and overall a very kindhearted woman, although this hardly and rarely seems to show. The first time she speaks to Anna during the coronation ceremony, Elsa compliments her sister, as well as sharing laughter for equal love for chocolate, and when the Duke's hair falls forward in a very comedic fashion during his bow. She also puts Anna in her place to dance, showing more of that playful side between the two sisters.

ABILITIES:

Elsa was born a cryokinetic— someone able to manipulate snow and ice. From her steps to her touch, she's shown to be able to coat and freeze just about anything with ice and frost, showing resistance to cold or even feeling cold for that matter, conjuring structures ( like stairs, an entire palace, and even her clothes ), sentient  sculptures, as well as being able to bring up miniature flurries at her fingertips. This also extends to changing the weather, able to make it snow or bring about blizzards, but this depends more on her emotional state.

In fact, emotion is a huge factor to all of Elsa's powers. When in a calmer and happier mind, Elsa controls her magic with ease. Due to her repression and fear of hurting others though ( again ), Elsa's abilities run a rather large risk of setting off without her desire to do so, mostly when she gets angry, nervous, fearful, or anxious. She wears gloves as a mental block to suppress her touch, and most of the time it has helped in comforting her, keeping her ice hidden and 'in line', or, at least she believes it does- to be honest, she stays apprehensive, even with gloves.

If cast onto others, especially if the heart is struck, Elsa's ice slowly tugs the victim into a curse, a process of freezing until they solidify into ice for good ( when Anna's head was struck as a child, there was still urgency to save her, my bet being that if struck in any part of the body, the person can still freeze, albeit slower as well as somehow being able to reverse its effects with the right magic. the heart is the fastest and most difficult, not having a magical counter spell to lift it ). The process takes just around a day, heart-wise, most likely, and starts with a brisk drop in body temperature that can be easily noticed.

Warmth helps delay the freezing a tad, but doesn't keep it from coming. Hair slowly begins to turn white in strands until, nearing the end of the process, goes white entirely. The victim will start to feel colder and colder, weaker, fingers and hands ( probably toes and feet as well ) are the first to begin freezing over and go rigid, stiff, as well as coats of snowflakes and frost covering the skin. Then, they freeze. To either reverse or break the process completely, an act of true love must be made to thaw the frozen heart.
